On 20 January 2011, Ike Ehiribe will be one of the moderators at an event jointly organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Dispute Prevention and Resolution in the Film and Media Industry

Location: Bird & Bird, 15 Fetter Lane, London

Speakers: Peter Brownlow, Sarah Theurich, Sarah Walker and Tony Stern

The time frame and costs involved in film and media productions mean that disputes with partners, participants and rights holders can have highly disruptive effects on schedules and budgets. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center has developed tailored Mediation and Expedited Arbitration procedures for film and media disputes. These offer a neutral time and cost effective dispute resolution option for the film and media sector, facilitated by mediators and arbitrators from the international WIPO Film and Media Panel with relevant industry expertise. Disputes arising from TV format use, co-production agreements, distribution deals, new media exploitation are just some of the areas where the new WIPO procedures can be an efficient option. At the Seminar, specialized legal professionals will discuss with a WIPO representative and an expert from the TV format industry about film and media dispute resolution needs and what the new WIPO option offers.
